For my senior thesis project I chose to focus entirely on preproduction work, character design, and environment design because that is what I want to focus on for my career after graduation. I chose to create a pitch for a story with full concept art as if I were actually presenting it to a studio. Within my pitch I chose to redesign one of my personal characters, Agape, and give her story more life.
"Anastasis": Senior Thesis 2024
Two characters from two different worlds must come together to save each other. Agape, the female main character, is a mage from a magical world. When a battle consumes her home she is sent to “reality” where she meets Pierre, the male main character. Pierre helps Agape to understand the strange new world around her and promises to help her return home even though he does not know how difficult that will prove to be for the two of them.
Thesis Goal
My preproduction work will have seven characters and four environments. There will be a turn around for each character and outfit designs. There are two main characters, one side character, one antagonist, two minor characters, and a companion character. My final product is a set of four style frames
Main Characters
Secondary Character
Charity - Pierre's older and wiser sister
Antagonist
Kierran - Agape's selfish mentor
Minor Characters
Philia - Agape's strict older sister & Eros- Agape's easy going older brother
Companion Character
Zeta the Dragon- Agape's companion after the war in which she looses her home

Character Height Chart
(minus the dragon)
From left to right, Agape, Eros, Philia, Kierran, Pierre, and Charity.
Environments
Castle of Thea
Forest of Thea
Pierre's Room
Pierre & Charity's home town in Maine
All environments designed for the magical world of Thea have no harsh defining lines. This is because "magic" isn't a real thing, it exists in theory, at least to those of us who are defined by our reality of laws and science. That is why all environments designed for "our world" or reality all have defining lines that keep color and shape contained. Reality is defined while magic is not, thus my design choices to keep a more painterly line free style for my Thea environments, and a more sharp and hard edge style for my reality environments.
Style Frames
Agape turning to her sister's aid whenever she needs advice of any kind. Philia always knows best.
Agape and Kierran during a lesson on magic.
Agape prepares to defend her home in the ultimate battle between good and evil.
Once brought to reality for safety, Pierre has to teach Agape the way things go in his world. He offers her a can of Coke to ease her nerves but Agape freaks out when the can "hisses" at her when opened. She is unaware that it's just carbonation.
All work was created using ProCreate on iPad and Adobe Photoshop.
